Come Cheer the Team On in LA (or from your PC!)

Well, the Avon Breast Cancer Walk is finally upon us.

When all said and done Team Affiliate Marketers Give back has raised $51,059.67 for the walk, making us the 5th highest fund raising team for the walk. (That’s a whole lot of access to care and dollars to fund research for a cure to this horrible disease.)

I’ve personally raised $20,400.00 making me the 3rd highest fundraiser overall and also affords me the opportunity to meet Patrick Dempsey. #McDreamyFanGirlSoWhat

We have all of you to thank for this. Without your support, whether it be via donations, marketing or cheering us on, we would not have raised as much as we did — especially in this economy!

So, I fly out tomorrow because I’m still chicken to fly on 9/11. Stupidsticious, I know.  But that’s the way it is.

After check in on Friday, we have a team dinner at Wokcano’s, where I will be wrestling Chris Pearson for all the Ahi on the table. It’s going to be an early night for us because we have to be up and out the door by 4:45am to make the Opening Ceremony.

Overall, this is a 39 mile walk. On Saturday, we will walk 26+ miles and on Sunday, we will walk the balance.

Lynette LaPlante Joins the Team

Some of you may remember my friend Lynette. Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back walked in her honor last year during the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day.

Lynette was 32 at the time — a healthy mother of 3 children. On a routine visit to her doctor, a lump was discovered and she was subsequently diagnosed with bi-lateral breast cancer.

Well, a year has passed and Lynette has survived. There’s been lots of ups and downs, but through everything, she has managed to stay strong and be one of the most positive people that I know.

I am so thrilled that she has decided to walk with the team this year during the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Volunteers Needed For Fundraiser

Affiliate Marketers Give Back will be holding a fundraiser during the Meet Market at Affiliate Summit East 2009, on Sunday, August 9th.

We’ll be giving away limited-edition Affiliate Summit Breast Cancer Awareness Hat with a $40.00 donation (that’s a donation of $1.00 per mile we’re walking!) and Affiliate Marketers Give Back Laptop Stickers with $10.00 donations made to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Now, we’re looking for folks to help staff the table inside the Meet Market on Sunday, August 9th.

If you can work a 1-hour shift (or two) to help us with our fundraising, we could really use your help.

This year, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back will be taking on the 40-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles on September 12-13.

The Avon Walk exists to raise funds to fight breast cancer and to bring awareness and education about the disease. It’s also an opportunity for individuals to join forces and generate significant progress in both the treatment of breast cancer and a quest for the cure – while simultaneously having an extraordinary experience.

I can assure you that if you decide to walk with the rest of Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back (“Team AMGB”), you will definitely have an extraordinary experience — we’ve had a blast each year!
