Affiliate Marketers Give Back Raises over $86,000 for the 2012 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer NYC

At approximately 2pm ET on Sunday, October, 21st, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back crossed the 39.3 mile finish line of the 2012 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer New York City.

Our team raised $86,688.36 and a total of $8.3 million was raised for this walk to advance access to care and find a cure for breast cancer.

The Avon Walk New York, the eighth of nine Avon Walks this year, attracted more than 3,400 participants from 46 states and Washington DC, as well as eight countries, and drew 429 men and 401 breast cancer survivors to raise life-saving funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Here is a list of grants that were awarded during closing ceremonies. It was so exciting to see all of our fundraising being disbursed right in front of us!

We were also thrilled to find out that Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back was the 2nd largest fundraising team during this walk and both myself and Shawn Collins were in the top 10 of individual fundraisers.

We had an amazing, yet grueling time on the walk and a ton of fun at our team Cheering Station on Columbus Circle. Being able to put a smile on the face of the walkers as they forged on through the last few miles was an incredibly uplifting experience.

Come Cheer on the Avon Walkers with Team @amgb in NYC!

When you walk 39.3 miles over 1-1/2 days, during the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, you experience a lot of different emotions — sadness, joy, frustration, inspiration, doubt, hope, determination and so much more. Couple that with muscle aches, blisters and exhaustion and the whole experience can get a little overwhelming.

I can tell you first hand that nothing motivates an Avon Walker more than seeing all of the folks that come out to show their support by cheering us on along the way. Clad in their Pink flair, with their motivational posters and music, etc.; their energy and excitement make us smile and laugh and gives us the encouragement we need to keep on going.

I was so excited when I found out that Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was giving Affiliate Marketers Give Back a Cheering Station of their own this year, providing an opportunity for our team to not only participate in the walk, but also allow us to cheer on our fellow walkers for a portion of the second day of the walk.

If you’re going to be in NYC on Sunday, October 21st, come join Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back at our Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Cheering Station located at 59th Street and Central Park West from 10:00am to 12:00pm. We’ll be the applauding and high-fiving the Avon Walkers as they pass by dressed in our team shirts, rocking our pom-poms and noise makers and handing out thousands of fruit-flavored Pink Ribbon candy and Heart-shaped seeded paper pins.

The Avon Walkers can plant the heart and grow pretty wild flowers when they get back home to remind them of their time during the walk.

Cheering with our team is a great option to be involved if you’re unable to participate in an Affiliate Marketers Give Back walk. I promise you, you’ll have a fun time supporting a great cause.

Affiliate Summit Donates $20,329 to Fight Breast Cancer

Affiliate Summit, the premier affiliate marketing conference, has donated over $20,000 to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in conjunction with their upcoming show, Affiliate Summit East 2012, taking place August 12-14, 2012.

“The Race to Affiliate Summit East 2012, an exercise challenge where Affiliate Summit committed to donating $1 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in support of the Affiliate Marketers Give Back team for each mile in the challenge, has completed.“

Participants cycled, run, swam, and walked to add up miles for the charity competition.

There were 61 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten competitors accumulated 13,022 miles.

Affiliate Summit East 2012 Raises Over $17k (So Far) in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

The Race to Affiliate Summit East 2012, a dailymile challenge where Affiliate Summit will donate $1 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in support of Affiliate Marketers Give Back team for each mile cycled, run, swam, or walked through the challenge, is running through 7/31/2012.

There are currently 61 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten competitors have already accumulated 10,819 miles.

Overall, there have been 17,087 miles tallied by all of the participants, so it’s $17,087 raised (so far).

I am at #9 right now (see my dailymile profile) with 736 miles, and still hanging on in the top ten. But my greater emphasis on running over cycling has me at risk of dropping away. Maybe I need to get on that bike more.

Here are the top ten affiliate marketing exercisers, as of July 5, 2012.

dailymile syncs with Garmin devices, Nike+ device and iPhone app, as well as a number of iPhone and Android clients.

You can also manually enter your cycling, swimming, running, and walking efforts.

In order to participate in dailymile activities, you will need to friend me on dailymile and I will invite you to the challenge. The challenge is going through 7/31/2012.

Affiliate Summit East 2012 is taking place August 12-14, 2012 in New York City.

The participant with the most total miles at the end of the challenge will receive a VIP Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2013. 2nd to 5th place finishers will each receive a Networking Plus Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2013, and 6th to 10th place finishers will each receive a Networking Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2013.

Silent Auction to Benefit @AMGB 2012 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

We are pleased to announce that we are holding the Affiliate Marketers Give Back Silent Auction again, starting the week of July 8th, 2012, right here on this blog.

As of today, we have have raised more than half of our team goal of $80,000 for this year’s Affiliate Marketers Give Back, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and are working really hard to raise the other half!

As such, we are asking individuals and companies to please help by considering a donation of an item or service for the silent auction.

Donated items will be listed on the website along with information on the donor and a link back to their website. Winners will be announced after the auction ends and will also receive a link back to their website.

Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back has never missed hitting the team goal, and we don’t want to start now. So please help us out by donating an item to the silent auction.
